Some of the proposals were simple expressions of love, and others were complex paths to the final question. Some were spur-of-the-moment decisions, many others involved much planning and many people involved.
All are special to the couples involved.

I was on vacation in Paris with a girlfriend, having lunch, when the waiter sent over a rose. "From the gentleman," he said. Only there was no one in sight except for a couple and an elderly man. Next came a bottle of champagne, again, a gift from "the gentleman." We couldn't figure it out _ who could be sending these presents? Next thing you know, my boyfriend tapped me on the shoulder, dropped to his knees and presented the ring.
